Hillberry 2022 featured the timeless tunes of RailroadEarth, the electricity of Cory Wong, the classic Ozark picks of Yonder Mountain String Band and Arkansauce for us all to gigue along with...and of course, countless more bands and musicians with talent as beautiful as the fans who attend this end of Summer celebration! There's still time to book your ticket to the enchanting and hypnotic weekend at The Farm in Eureka Springs, AR. Deadhead Productions and Railroad Earth always deliver a remarkable show that you're sure to never forget!
Anna Lien, a student of Music at NYU, shares a captivating presentation of Michael Mauldin's Birds in Winter: Six Preludes for Harp which is dedicated to Rosalind Simpson. Michael provided this context for the piece:
"My studio has large, south-facing windows and a lot of light. When I was beginning work on a new piece for my harpist friend, Rosalind Simpson, I noticed the birds outside my window as they reacted to the coming cold weather. I 'put myself inside them', so to speak, and out came some varied and interesting emotional reactions. I see the fourth movement as the emotional centerpiece of the set. Its unrelated minor chords, tied together only with a common tone, create a sad but strangely hopeful mood. Birds are usually among the first creatures to be affected by pollution, so I see the birds' reaction to the coming of winter as not unlike our concern over the environmental ‘winter’ that may be coming. The final movement is 'flight.'"
The piece is solely distributed by Vanderbilt Music Co, PO Box 456, Bloomington, IN 47402

Explore the grounds at NORTHCOAST for ambient vibes in a rainbow laser marshmallow, a complete burn-out in the fire pit, and ridiculously mind-bending lightshows/pyros at the Vega and Mainstage. Of course, the Canopy is my homebase and the biggest surprise was the sweet tech to make the silent disco go down. First time ravers and old school rave mavens have it all within the ground of Chicago Fire's SeatGeek Stadium and surrounding complex. 6+ stages blasting a plethora of EDM genres gives festival-attendess three days of total satisfaction. All that and more with a Coastie Community that parties with PLUR ☮️
Osheaga 2022 nailed it! The Island Stage rocked a variety of House all day with a mix of rock, pop, and more around Parc Jean-Drapeau - the river island that this festival takes place on. The weather was perfect, the fans had a righteous time, and the artists absolutely munched the great vibes shared over the weekend! A Huge thanks to my boy, Joe Malko and his wife, Jeannette, for getting married in early August facilitating my adventure on the island 🇨🇦
